The Declaration of Independence proclaimed a revolution; the Constitution established a form of government still in place after 235 years. How did a call for something radically new produce a government that is now one of the oldest in the world?
James R. Stoner, Jr., is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Eric Voegelin Institute at Louisiana State University, where he has taught courses in political theory, American constitutionalism, and the Western Tradition since 1988. He is the author of two books and co-editor of five more. He earned his PhD at Harvard University and his AB at Middlebury College.
